Yes, yes, this is my first ever barbie cake. First ever!! When I got the order I was sooo excited, and then it turned into FEAR and STRESS. Well, it is the biggest cake that I have ever done!!! [oh i'm so green :-) ] Its a 12 inch moist chocolate cake and the theme is 'PRINCESS' (which I love soo much!!!)
I got sooo stressed that I cant think of what to do i.e. the design. In my head it was like, can I do this, how am I gonna do this, is my pricing right...etc..etc.
I asked my dear hubby for some advice and he gave me the most irritating and ridiculous answer..."You know, you just have to be creative", "just follow the design on the net"...duh, how can I be creative if I copied someone else's design???!!! I want the design to be all mine (yes, I'm kinda ambitious..hehe).
And as I went along in decorating the cake, I asked him to look and see how I have been doing and give his views and you know what he said??.....he said "ya, ya its nice, nice". He said this while his eyes was glued to the telly and not even giving a tiny glance at the cake. You can see how peeved I was. Then after a couple of hours I asked him again to look at my cake. And yes, he said: "The last time I look, it was great". Can you believe this!!! As far as I'm concerned, his bum is still glued to the sofa watching the telly.
Anyway, I have finished the cake. The design as above. I made some butterflies and the flowers and the gigantic gold tiara in front of the cake. I did piping work on the skirts. The pink dots were perfectly round to my delight. Ya, I'm happy with the cake but I think I can do better if I wasn't soooo stressed and insecure and unconfident. Well, this is after all my FIRST EVER PRINCESS cake. And I can proudly claim its all my design. MINE..MINE...hahahahah (do some evil laugh here).
Btw, my hubby has been great. He drove me to deliver the cake in his old mitsubishi gallant station wagon. And he did help take care of my 3 year old super active, hyper energetic son (as confirmed by his gym coach) while I finished with the cake.
Well, it is a happy ending after all..... just like in the fairy tale :-)
THE END
